The Historic Village at Allaire

The Historic Village at Allaire was once an iron-producing, factory-town known as the Howell Iron Works, Co. The Village was a self-sufficient community containing a carpentry and pattern making shop, a blacksmith shop, a bakery, a boarding house, a blast furnace, mills to finish iron products, a school, a church, a general store with a post office, and workers’ home.

This is a model of a railway crossing. A straight piece of track is crossed by a road via two gates. One of the gates is open while the other is closed. Note the gates are fixed and cannot be changed without cutting and gluing. There is a "HALT" sign on both gates. The 1/56 scale model measures approximately 195mm wide, 171mm deep and 33mm tall.

This book has been very recently published by the Industrial Railway Society, and it’s superb!. Whilst much if it isn’t relevant to West Halton, the later part of the book concentrates on the Sentinel Rolls-Royce diesel hydraulic locomotives, many of which worked within the steel industry. in fact, many earlier Sentinel locomotives worked in the industry.
